The Beginning We Did Not Choose

When we open our eyes to the world, we find ourselves in a family, a place in the world, and a set of circumstances we did not choose.

Who are we?

What are our circumstances? Where do the limits of our possibilities begin, and where can they be surpassed? How can we break free from the judgments that surround us?

The Pattern That Shapes Us

Each of us is shaped within a particular pattern. To understand this, we must first learn to recognise that pattern. For it shapes our thoughts, ideas, education, beliefs, emotions, and even our impulses.

But what is really happening?

Looking at Ourselves from Outside

How many of us have stepped back and looked at our lives from the outside—truly and objectively observing ourselves? Let us assume that we have. How many of us have managed to escape the whirlpool of familiar circumstances, move beyond our old emotional state, and rebuild ourselves?

And how many of us have found the courage to free ourselves from the shadows of the past and reach towards the light of the future?

Is it difficult to do?

The real challenge is not change itself. It is that, despite every hardship, we continue to feel safe in familiar territory and fear what is new.

Rebuilding the Self

True awareness and awakening to life begin precisely here.

Models of personal development presented through rote repetition and offered as ready-made prescriptions cannot bring this about. What makes genuine transformation possible is an entirely different perspective, a new way of thinking, and a way of learning that nourishes us.

The story of being reborn with a new personal philosophy and vision is unique to every individual.

It is possible to free ourselves from the defining influence of our beliefs, habits, relatives, parents, and former surroundings. In doing so, we can strengthen the foundations of our character and personality, and build an entirely new self.

It is not easy, of course. But this is a life you choose and build for yourself. It may therefore demand a heavy price. Yet that price is paid only once, because life is lived only once.

It cannot be lived again…
